Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1983 as the first Habitat affiliate in North Carolina and is committed to helping families in need of decent, affordable housing. Through Habitat homeownership and home repair programs, 2,100 adults and children in Buncombe and Madison counties have achieved the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better future. Asheville Habitat mobilizes its supporters to advocate for policies that advance homeownership for low-income households; promote access to affordable housing; promote financial stability; and preserve vibrant communities.

Just Economics Affordable Housing Strategy Team works on addressing the affordable housing crisis in the Asheville region. They meet monthly, and they are working on several advocacy efforts and projects to improve housing in the community.

Pisgah Legal Services annually helps thousands of people with low incomes keep decent, safe and affordable housing. Our staff and attorneys are experienced in landlord/tenant law, and work with community partners to prevent homelessness and improve access to affordable housing.
